Buying a used SUV is a major financial commitment. Before you sign on the dotted line, you want to be sure you are getting the best price for the vehicle you wish to purchase. At Joe’s Auto Sales, we recommend asking thorough and detailed questions so you have all the information you need to make an informed decision regarding your next SUV.
Can I Test Drive the SUV?
Before you begin negotiating a price for any SUV, ask if you can take the vehicle for a test drive. Almost all car dealerships will allow for some type of test drive, whether you go on your own or the salesperson rides with you. Taking the vehicle for a test drive will tell you if there are any obvious concerns regarding the vehicle’s performance. You also need to make sure you are comfortable driving this new-to-you SUV. We spend a lot of time in our vehicles and it’s not worth purchasing an SUV in which you’re uncomfortable.
Do You Offer In-House Financing?
Most car dealerships offer some type of in-house financing. There are typically several types of programs and loans to choose from, such as manufacturer-backed financing or vehicle loans for those with poor credit. Be sure to find out as much about the specific financing programs for which you qualify, such as the interest rate, the payment program, and how many months the vehicle will be financed.
Do You Accept Trade-Ins?
If you have a vehicle that you’d like to sell once you replace it with your new purchase, ask if they will take it as a trade-in. This will help pay for your newer SUV as well as keep you from having to sell it on your own. Plus, you may get a better price if you trade your car in rather than sell it.
